Shanek Fernando is a Social Development Specialist in the World Bank’s Sri Lanka office. Having joined the Bank in 2019, Shanek provides support to clients and task teams on safeguards and ESF projects in Sri Lanka and Maldives. Prior to joining the Bank, for 13 years he worked with UN & other development agencies implementing resettlement and recovery projects among Tsunami and conflict affected communities in Sri Lanka. Shanek holds a Master of Philosophy Degree in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, UK, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Norwich University, USA.
