Shawn Tan is a principal economist in the Europe Country Advisory and Economic team of the International Finance Corporation. He has worked in the World Bank since 2013 on competitiveness, trade and innovation topics in the Western Balkans, Central Europe, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Georgia and Viet Nam. He spent 2022 at the research department in the Asian Development Bank. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Melbourne, Australia and has published policy reports and working papers on the topics of trade, FDI, and firm productivity, and research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
