Shawn W. Tan is an Economist in the World Bank’s Trade and Competitiveness Global Practice. He is currently working on trade policy and private sector development issues for countries in Europe and Central Asia. Prior to working at the World Bank, he worked at the Singapore Economic Development Board, where he was trade negotiator for Singapore’s free trade agreements and bilateral investment treaties, participated in ASEAN trade and investment forums, and worked on customs and trade facilitation issues for multinational companies in Singapore. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Melbourne. His research interests are broadly in international trade, economic geography, and firm productivity and performance.
