Sheriff Mahmud Ismail, a Sierra Leonean national, joined the World Bank Group (WBG) in 2011. Mr. Ismail has more than nine years of experience in the field of media relations and customer service. He was appointed country communications associate for Sierra Leone, his current position, in August 2012.
Based in Freetown, he is responsible for improved information sharing about the WBG’s work in Sierra Leone.Prior to this appointment, he served as Customer Operations Manager in two of Sierra Leone’s telecommunication companies, and has been publishing in several local tabloids over the years.
Mr. Ismail obtained his bachelor degree in library and information management and masters in mass communication from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
