Shohei Nakamura is an economist in the Poverty and Equity Global Practice of the World Bank, where he has been tackling poverty and urbanization agenda in various regions. He currently leads multiple works in poverty and inequality analysis and statistical capacity building in the Pacific region while conducting policy research to address global urban poverty challenges. Shohei has also extensively published scholarly articles on urban poverty, informal settlements, and distributional impact analysis of infrastructure. Before joining the Bank, he was a visiting fellow at Harvard Graduate School of Design. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan.
