Shruti is a development professional with 8+ years of experience working on women's economic empowerment, participatory governance and gender based violence projects. She has led evaluations, programme implementation and analytical work on these issues in Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Jordan and Egypt with the Development Research Group and Social Development units at the World Bank.
Shruti is currently working as a Gender Based Violence Specialist at UN Women's Ending Violence Against Women unit that manages close to 500 GBV projects in 139 countries. In this role, she provides technical advisory, operational and M&E support to civil society, UN Women country offices and government counterparts working on GBV in Asia and Pacific Islands and in fragile and conflict-affected areas. In addition to direct programmatic support, she is also leading the development and roll out of the unit's Evidence Hub strategy and research partnerships.
Shruti holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from Brown University, and a B.A. in Sociology from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi University.
