Sifa Uwera is a Social Protection Specialist in the World Bank’s Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice. She has held various leadership positions in international organizations and government. She has led research and studies in social protection, gender, and education. Sifa has a track record of managing and delivering projects in Rwanda, Malawi, and for the Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), United Kingdom. Sifa has worked on delivering interventions for economic inclusion of youth, women and girls, inclusion of vulnerable groups: the poor, persons with disability, and children. Sifa’s passion is to improve livelihoods and contribute to lifting vulnerable people out of poverty. She holds a master’s degree in project management from Maastricht University, Netherlands.
Sifa joined the World Bank in March 2020, as a short-term consultant in Social Protection, based in Rwanda. She has been working with the World Bank Rwanda Social Protection and Jobs team to strengthen delivery of two Investment Project Financing (IPF) programs in Social Protection and a Development Policy Financing (DPF) project for Human Capital for Inclusive Growth in Rwanda.
