Sofia Parker

Transport Economist

Sophia Parker is a Transport Economist at The World Bank, working on the Bank’s engagement in shipping and ports. Prior to joining the Bank, she worked in economics and shipping consultancies and in academia. While at UMAS, she worked on the Poseidon Principles, Poseidon Principles for Marine Insurance, and SBTi’s Maritime Guidance and served as a technical advisor. Sophia has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tufts University and a PhD from UCL in Energy and Economics, where she studied the spatial nature of tanker markets and the role of energy efficiency.
