Sophie Dong is a Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank's Financial, Competitiveness and Innovation (FCI) Global Practice for the Central and West Africa Region. Having joined the World Bank in 2011, she has specialized in supporting governments to develop and implement projects that achieve significant development impact, foster private-sector-led growth, and help create markets. She has worked on many countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, with a focus on development finance, SME finance, financial inclusion, housing finance, and jobs/skills development. Her most recent country assignments include Nigeria, West Bank and Gaza, Ghana, and Sierra Leone. Prior to joining the World Bank, Sophie worked in the private sector in investment banking in Europe. She holds a master’s degree in finance from Vlerick Business School as well as an MBA from the European University College Brussels.
