Senior Transport Specialist with the World Bank's Transport & ICT Global Practice

Over the past couple of decades, Sri Kumar Tadimalla has been assisting various governments in improving the level and quality of infrastructure services with particular focus on transport sub-sectors and in harnessing private sector efficiencies and financing. Earlier, Sri Kumar also worked in the areas of strategy and change management, with various NGO, private and public sector institutions.

At the Bank since 2007, his work has been focused mainly on Highway sub-sector and harnessing private sector efficiencies & financing.  He led or co-led projects that led to upgradation of nearly 900+km of highways on PPP mode and piloted an innovative financing structure - namely, modified/hybrid-annuity concession - that is now being widely replicated.  In addition, he has been managing the Bank's PPP capacity building and knowledge partnership with the PPP Unit, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Earlier, Sri Kumar worked with  Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC), a premier Financial Institution established by the Government of India, to catalyze private sector finances for infrastructure services. As a key member of IDFC's Policy Advisory Group, Sri Kumar worked extensively with the central and several provincial governments in India in developing and implementing road maps for reforms in sectors as varied as Electricity, Telecom, Highway and Civil Aviation.  This work included providing guidance on establishment of specialized institutions for economic regulation and meeting universal service obligations.  

Sri Kumar graduated in Civil Engineering and did his MBA in Rural Management. He also holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration and Public Policy from the London School of Economics..  His areas of interest include political economy of infrastructure regulation,  design of impactful programs and structuring of efficient projects.
