Stefan Wolff is Professor of International Security at the University of Birmingham, England, UK. An expert on international crisis management and post-conflict state-building, he has published over 50 journal articles and book chapters, as well as 18 books, including Ethnic Conflict: A Global Perspective (Oxford University Press 2007), Ethnic Conflict: Causes—Consequences—Responses (Polity 2009, with Karl Cordell), and Conflict Management in Divided Societies (Routledge 2011, with Christalla Yakinthou). He has won research grants in access of £1.4m ($2m) from the Economic and Social Research Council of the UK, the British Academy, the European Union, and NATO, among others. Bridging the gap between academia and policy, Wolff has been advising international organizations and governments on peace negotiations and peace processes, including in Transnistria (Moldova), Kirkuk (Iraq), Yemen, and Western Sahara. Wolff graduated from the University of Leipzig, and holds an M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge and a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
