Dr. Stefano Paternostro is the Practice Manager of the Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice in the South Asia Region. In this role, he oversees the World Bank’s work on social safety nets, social insurance, labor market and job creation policies in the region. Previously, he was Practice Manager for the Africa region, and lead economist in the Middle East and North Africa region. Dr. Paternostro’s extensive experience and publications cover issues related to fiscal and redistribution policies, social protection, education, poverty and labor markets. Dr. Paternostro graduated from the Sapienza University of Rome and holds a M.Sc. and Ph.D in Economics from Cornell University.
