Stephan Zimmermann is a Disaster Risk Management Specialist and GFDRR's Regional Focal point for Europe & Central Asia (ECA). Stephan joined the World Bank as Junior Professional Officer funded by Austria in early 2016 and has been part of the GFDRR’s Brussels team since then. He works on the implementation of several EU-funded programs, strengthening relations with the European Commission and UNDRR's regional office for ECA, and also contributes to liaising with the World Bank's ECA team. He previously worked for private consulting firms and public institutions in Belgium, Cambodia and India. A native Austrian, Stephan holds an MSc. in International Development from the University of Bath and a BA in Business Administration with specialization in International Law from IMC Krems, Austria. He currently pursues a professional doctorate in his spare time. He is fluent in German and English and has working knowledge of French.
