Stephanie Yeo, a sociologist by training, is an Advocacy Officer and CMU Focal Point and Technical Advisor on accountability issues in Association de Soutien à l'Auto Promotion Sanitaire Urbaine (ASAPSU) in Cote d’Ivoire. Since 2019, she has been working with refugees, internally displaced communities and other vulnerable populations focusing on engagement around health financing issues to ensure better health for all. She has provided support to civil society organizations in advocating for health budget allocations to protect and promote essential health services in the context of COVID-19. She is also regional training consultant for the Joint Learning Agenda on Health Financing and Universal Health Coverage. In this capacity, she provides technical advice to civil society organizations in Côte d'Ivoire on advocacy and CSU (Couverture Sanitaire Maladie – the national insurance program), and support CSO and partner engagement around CSU, working with institutions such as the Global Financing Facility (GFF), the Global Fund, Gavi, and R4D. As part of efforts to strengthen social protection mechanisms, she was part of a team that piloted a study on how to make health insurance more responsive to community needs which led to recommendations and stronger dialogue with the government around reforms.
