Senior Country Economist

Steve Loris Gui-Diby is Senior Country Economist at the World Bank for Azerbaijan in the Europe and Central Asia Region.

Since joining the World Bank in 2017 as a Young Professional, Mr. Gui-Diby has worked on macroeconomic issues in Comoros, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Nigeria and the CEMAC region (Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa). His most recent assignment was Senior Country Economist for Comoros where he led the macroeconomic policy dialogue and the preparation of analytical documents, and financing programs.

Prior to joining the World Bank, Mr. Gui-Diby worked for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UNESCAP), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) in the fields of economics and statistics.

Mr. Gui-Diby holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University Clermont Auvergne, and a master’s degree from the University Grenoble Alpes in France, and he graduated from the Sub-regional Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics (ISSEA) as Engineer in Statistics in Cameroon. In addition to contributing to global, regional and national economic reports, he has published several papers in peer-reviewed international journals on different economic issues, including growth, the impact of foreign direct investment inflows, fiscal policy and public financial management, fragility and statistical development.
