Stig Johansson is the program manager, Wealth Accounting and Valuation of Ecosystem Services (WAVES) global Partnership.
 
A native of Finland, Johansson joined the Bank in 2012. His area of specialization includes global environmental services, forestry, biodiversity and protected areas. 

Before joining the Bank he was the Regional Director for National Parks at Natural Heritage Services in Finland and served as the vice-chair for the IUCN World Commission for Protected Areas representing Pan-Europe. He represented Finland for over 10 years in the permanent working group for Terrestrial Ecosystems at the Nordic Council of Ministers and was the chairman of the Finnish Society for Nature and Environment from 2011.

He has worked extensively with sustainable forest management, conservation and natural resources management and research in developing countries, primarily in eastern and southern Africa, with more than 10 years of field experience especially from Kenya, Tanzania and Namibia. 

Johansson holds a Doctorate of Science in Agriculture and Forestry from the University of Helsinki.
