Stuart Gill is the project coordinator of the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery Labs initiative (GFDRR Labs). The mission of the Labs is to bridge the gap between technology communities and the Bank’s Disaster Risk Management (DRM) programs to inspire innovation. Before moving to GFDRR Stuart worked within the DRM team of the Latin America & Caribbean region of the World Bank. Stuart has had the privilege to work on / found many of the Bank’s most innovative DRM programs including the Bank’s flagship Central American Probabilistic Risk Assessment (CAPRA) initiative, the remote damage assessment of Haiti, Random Hacks of Kindness (www.rhok.org) partnership between Google, Microsoft, Yahoo!, NASA and the World Bank and so on. Prior to joining the World Bank, Stuart taught and researched in the Department of Astrophysics at Columbia University.
