Sudeshna Mitra is a Transport Specialist with the World Bank Europe and Central Asia Infrastructure unit. She serves as the region's Road Safety focal point and provides operational and analytical support to road projects in Central Asia and the Western Balkans region in Europe. Before this role, she served as Task Team Leader for the Road Safety Research Program in the World Bank's Global Road Safety Facility, and provided operational cross-support to India and Bangladesh. Sudeshna is an experienced transport professional with a Ph.D. in Transportation from Arizona State University.
Before joining the World Bank, Sudeshna served as an Associate professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India, and as an Assistant professor at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California.
