Sven Neelsen is an economist (Ph.D.) and consultant in the Development Research Group (Human Development and Public Services Team). His main scientific interest is in the evaluation of health policy reforms in low and middle income countries. Current projects investigate the healthcare access and out-of-pocket medical spending effects of health coverage extensions in Peru and the socioeconomic consequences of illness in Thailand and India. In the past, Sven has extensively worked on the educational and labor market impacts of early-life exposure to malnutrition and disease.
