Takuya Kamata is the Director for the World Bank Singapore Hub for Infrastructure and Urban Development in the East Asia and Pacific region, based in Singapore.
In this position, Takuya's three top priorities will be to: (i) further strengthen the relationship between the Government of Singapore and the WBG; (ii) expand and leverage partnerships with other Singaporean stakeholders to bring innovations to the program; and (iii) work seamlessly with IFC and MIGA to tap Singapore's infrastructure and urban development experience for green, resilient and inclusive development of countries in Asia and beyond.
Takuya, a Japanese national, joined the World Bank in 1990 as a Young Professional. Since then he has held several positions within the World Bank including those in Africa, East Asia and Pacific, Europe and Central Asia regions. He was also the Country Manager for Uzbekistan and Nepal. His most recent position being Practice Manager in the South Asia Water II unit.
An expert in infrastructure, Takuya led policy dialogue, country sector strategy formulation, country sector coordination, quality assurance, peer review, lending and economic sector works in the water supply, urban, and environment sectors.
Before joining the World Bank, he worked for McKinsey and Company and the Bank of Tokyo. He is a graduate of the Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago, USA, and the Waseda University, Japan.
