Tewodros Dessie is IFC’s Country Economist based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He has more than 10 years of research and operation experience in applied economics, development economics, and strategic planning. He has experience in the private sector, academia and development institutions. Prior to joining the World Bank, he has worked as a Planning Officer at Ethio-Telecom and Research Scientist at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany. He joined the World Bank in 2019 as an Extended Term Consultant with the Poverty GP. Tewodros Dessie holds master’s degree in economics from Trento University, Italy, and a PhD in Applied Economics from Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany.
