Thomas Lennartz, Disaster Risk Management Specialist, focuses on developing GFDRR's work on disasters, fragility, and conflict. He joined GFDRR as a secondee from the GIZ's "Peace and Security, Disaster Risk Management" Sector Programme. A German national, Thomas has been working on DRM in different research institutions and development agencies for more than 10 years. He holds a Ph.D. in Geography based on landslide and earthquake-risk related research in Nepal and Pakistan, and has operational and headquarters experience in DRM, particularly in fragile and conflict situations.
