Tiguist Fisseha

Tiguist Fisseha is a Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist with the World Bank’s Social, Urban, Rural and Resilience Global Practice, currently working in the Africa Region. She worked for the past eight years in the Latin American and Caribbean region task managing the disaster risk management portfolio in the Eastern Caribbean, including investment projects and non-lending technical assistance. Within the Bank, she has worked on a wide range of operations, including disaster preparedness and reduction, disaster risk financing as well as emergency response projects. Her areas of analytical work span from urban resilience and resilient housing to hydromet and community-based disaster risk reduction. Before the World Bank, Tiguist was based in the Democratic Republic of Congo working with UNICEF on urban upgrading and sanitation projects in peri-urban settlements; prior to that, she worked on neighborhood upgrading projects with a local NGO in Ethiopia. Tiguist holds a BS in Software Engineering and French Literature, and a Master Degree in Urban Planning from Cornell University.
