Tom Bundervoet is a Lead Economist in the World Bank’s Poverty and Equity Global Practice, working on countries in Eastern and Southern Africa. Currently based in Kenya, he was previously based in Ethiopia and in Rwanda. His work focuses on policy analysis of poverty, employment, and human development. He also leads or co-leads several lending operations in statistical capacity building and urban social protection. Before joining the World Bank in 2012, Tom worked in humanitarian environments in Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Prior to this, he was engaged as an academic in Belgium. Tom has a doctorate in economics from the University of Brussels and has published his research in several peer-reviewed academic journals.
