Senior Energy Specialist

Tomoyuki Yamashita is a Senior Energy Specialist in the Energy and Extractives Global Practice of the World Bank. He has been managing rural electrification and renewable energy projects for micro hydro, solar, wind, and biogas in Nepal, as well as large scale hydro and transmission projects in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, since he join the Bank in 2010.
Prior to joining the World Bank, he was a chief consultant and project manager for international projects at Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) in Japan, and led teams for international projects in Argentina, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Egypt, Indonesia, Laos, Malawi, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Thailand, United States, and Zambia.
He holds a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering (Transportation System Planning) from the University of Texas at Austin, and a M.B.A. in International Business Management from the International University of Japan. He is a Professional Engineer (Civil Engineering) registered in Oregon State since 2002.
