Toni Weis is a Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank’s Africa Gender Innovation Lab (GIL). At GIL and in the Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice, he leads operational and analytical work on entrepreneurial finance, financial regulation, and financial sector development across several African countries. Toni has published peer-reviewed work on topics such as the adoption of global standards for financial regulation in Ethiopia, the African startup capital ecosystem, and the gender gap in banking careers. Toni joined the World Bank from the US Chamber of Commerce’s Center for International Private Enterprise where he led business advocacy campaigns across Africa. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Oxford, an MBA from the University of London, and an MA from Sciences Po Paris.
