Trinidad Saavedra

Economist, Poverty and Equity Global Practice

Trinidad Saavedra is an Economist in the World Bank’s Poverty & Equity Global Practice, working on countries in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region. She brings deep expertise in applied microeconometrics, statistical modeling, and household surveys to help governments turn data into better policy. Prior to this position, she led the poverty and equity programs for Chile and Grenada, drove the harmonization of consumption-based welfare aggregates across Caribbean countries, and supported the implementation of the Grenada portion of the OECS Data for Decision-Making Project, which aim to strengthen statistical capacity in participating Eastern Caribbean countries. Her interests span poverty reduction, inclusive growth, and the distributional impacts of fiscal and social policies. Before joining the Bank, she served in the Central Bank of Chile’s Financial Research Unit, co-leading projects on household indebtedness and innovative methods for imputing missing data. Trinidad holds an MSc in Finance and Econometrics from Queen Mary University of London, and an MSc in Economics and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of Chile.
