Upasana Varma is a Principal Investment Officer and the Global Lead for Cities and Subnational Finance at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), based in Washington, D.C.
In this role, she focuses on mobilizing sustainable commercial borrowing for subnational entities in emerging markets to address infrastructure gaps and improve service delivery. She has 25 years of financing experience in the infrastructure space working across municipal, power, gas, water, waste, district energy and transport sectors.
She holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Masters in Development Studies from the London School of Economics.
