M&E and Development Professional

Urmy Shukla is an independent M&E and development professional, whose experience spans impact evaluation, program evaluation, global health, and human rights. She seeks multi-disciplinary, multi-faceted approaches to economic development and social change. Urmy previously headed the CLEAR South Asia Regional Center, working to strengthen monitoring and evaluation capacity in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. She has worked on evaluations for a wide range of partners, including the UK government, European Commission, UNESCO, the US Department of Health and Human Services, as well as local government agencies and NGOs in Ecuador and Brazil. Her doctoral dissertation (Emory University) challenged global civil society claims directly linking gender and WASH interventions, drawing upon both impact evaluation and sociological frameworks. Urmy also holds an MSc in Local Economic Development from the London School of Economics and a B.A. in Economics and Spanish Literature from Brown University.
