Uzma Khalil is a Senior Financial Sector Specialist in the East Asia and Pacific Region of the World Bank Group with over 15 years of experience in leading financial sector programs covering financial sector oversight, financial inclusion and SME finance issues across East Asia and Pacific, Southern Africa and Eastern Europe and Central Asia regions.
Her program leadership extends across various countries and regions. She has led numerous country and regional advisory and lending engagements on Climate finance, digital financial services, and banking supervision in the Philippines, Thailand, Pacific Island Countries, Cambodia, South Africa, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Zambia, and Southern Africa. Her participation and leadership in joint IMF-World Bank Financial Sector Assessment Programs in several countries in Eastern Europe and Africa regions further demonstrate her global perspective.
Prior to joining the World Bank Group, she worked at the Central Bank of Pakistan on banking supervision, banking sector liquidity, and market risk assessments. Ms. Uzma holds an MS in Finance from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, and has also completed the CFA Institute Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program.
