Varun works as an Operations Analyst in the Doing Business Unit of the World Bank Group. He works on issues of business regulation reforms, investment promotion and private sector development. His work includes identifying and analyzing regulatory obstacles for private sector as inputs to the World Bank Doing Business report. Varun holds a Masters in Law and Economics (MILE) from the World Trade Institute, Bern, Switzerland and the Bachelors of Arts and Law (Honors) from National Law University, Delhi, India. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Varun worked in New Delhi as a lawyer and a Junior Associate with the Intellectual Property Division at the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD), Geneva, Switzerland. He is a member of the Indian Supreme Court Bar Association. He speaks Hindi and is conversant in French. He is currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
