Vinaya Swaroop is currently an Economic Adviser in the Office of the Vice President in the World Bank’s Africa Region. Previously, he was the Global Lead for Growth in the World Bank’s Global Practice of Macroeconomics and Fiscal Management. Prior to that he was a Sector Manager covering economic policy and poverty issues in the World Bank’s South Asia Region.
A broad-based economist, Vinaya has worked for over 25 years in operations, research, and corporate units of the Work Bank where his engagement has focused on policy-based research, sharing knowledge and best practices with clients, and leading country economic dialogue and policy reform in client countries. He has published articles in refereed journals and books on macroeconomics and public finance issues. He holds a PhD in Economics from Northwestern University.
