Dr. Vinod Thomas is a senior associate fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore.
Previously, he served as director-general of Independent Evaluation at the Asian Development Bank and director-general and senior vice-president of the Independent Evaluation Group at the World Bank Group until his retirement in August 2011. He also held various roles including country director for Brazil and Vice-President, vice-president of the World Bank Institute, chief economist for the East Asia and Pacific region, director for the World Development Report, chief of Trade Policy and Principal Economist for Colombia, and economist for Bangladesh.
Dr. Thomas is known for his research on social and environmental issues. His latest book is titled "Risk and Resilience in the Era of Climate Change".
