Violane Konar-Leacy is a senior private sector specialist with the Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment Global Practice of the World Bank Group. She is based in Vienna, Austria and manages the Europe and Central Asia Trade Facilitation Support Program (TFSP), which assists selected countries in the region to align further with the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.
Prior to her assignment in Vienna, Violane was based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and managed the Central Asia and the Western Balkans Trade Logistics Projects. Both projects collaborated with regional customs administrations and SPS agencies to simplify and harmonize trade procedures, foster closer interagency collaboration, and champion risk-based controls and wider use of automation in border controls.
Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Violane worked at the US consulting firms Booz Allen Hamilton and KPMG, the Austrian Economic Chamber, and the US Department of Commerce.
