Vismay Parikh is an Economist with the Growth and Jobs unit in the Economic Policies department at the World Bank, where he leads analytical and lending initiatives focused on youth employment, labor markets, and skills development. In Ghana, he supports the $200 million Ghana Jobs and Skills Project, which aims to provide vocational training to the youth and create jobs across the country. He has also advised the governments of Uganda, Mozambique, South Africa, Nepal, and Bangladesh on employment policies based on sound analysis of macroeconomic, labor demand, and labor supply factors. Before joining the unit, Vismay was based in Rwanda, where he contributed to the Rural Sector Support Program (RSSP) and the Rwanda Feeder Roads Project. In Mongolia, he led analytical work to assess the willingness to pay for sanitation services under the Mongolia Community Driven Development (CDD) Project. Vismay holds a Master’s degree in Health Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Fergusson College, University of Pune.
