Director, Insights Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL)

Wameek Noor works to catalyze the pace of innovation to enhance sustainability and scale of digital deployments and digital development programs.  Wameek joined the Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) in October 2016 as the Director of Insights. In this role, he manages innovative research and experimentation offering key insights and operational know-how to create a more effective and enabling digital ecosystem.  Prior to joining DIAL, Wameek was a Financial Sector Analyst at CGAP leading a wide range of cutting-edge experimentation in digital financial services, including the conceptualization, design and development of financial products targeting the financially unbanked.

Prior to CGAP, Noor was a consultant to both the Finance and Markets Global Practice of the World Bank and Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI). In these capacities, he frequently trained senior public sector regulators and co-authored numerous publications on mobile money, technology-enabled international remittances, and other innovative financial services. At AFI, he played a key role in AFI’s strategy for the Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) and AFI’s Pacific Islands Working Group, fostering discussions with South Pacific Countries to help them better understand innovative financial products and risk based regulatory approaches.
 
Noor has also worked for Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, where he was extensively involved in using microfinance to spearhead technology-driven development projects through mobile phones, the Internet, and solar technology. Prior to Grameen Bank, Noor worked at the Corporate Executive Board, a management consulting firm. Noor holds an M.A. in International Development and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Vassar College.
