Wayne Shand is a Senior Associate with the International Institute for Environment and Development, working with their Human Settlements Group on urban development, housing and climate issues. Wayne has over 30 years-experience in urban development, working first in city government economic development roles in the UK and for the last 15 years as an independent researcher and consultant focusing on urban policy. Wayne has worked on a wide range of projects, primarily in Africa, focusing on poverty reduction and sustainable development. He has a master’s degree and PhD in international development from the University of Manchester, where he continues as an honorary research fellow at the Global Development Institute.
