Wei Chang is an Economist at the Africa Gender Innovation Lab, within the World Bank’s Africa Chief Economist Office. Her work focuses on evaluating development interventions and public health programs in low-resource settings for women’s and girls’ empowerment, often through cross-disciplinary research in collaboration with government. Before joining the World Bank, she was a postdoc research fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health and worked on HIV trials in Sub-Saharan Africa and the U.S. at the University of California San Francisco. She has a Ph.D. in health policy and management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and master’s degrees in social work and public health from Washington University in St. Louis.
