Wiebke Schloemer

IFC’s Director for Turkiye and Central Asia

Wiebke Schloemer is currently IFC’s Director for Turkiye and Central Asia. She leads IFC’s operations in the region, driving the strategy in sustainability, innovation, Public-Private-Partnerships, and digital transformation to enable private investments across the region. Ms Schloemer has vast global experience in finance and impact investing across industries, in particular infrastructure, energy, telecoms and industrials. She has spent the last 20 years in various leadership positions with the IFC/World Bank Group across the globe, working with innovation and growth driven companies and advising Governments on sustainable private sector development. As an executive and experienced board director, her expertise spans business transformation, risk assessment and management, sustainability and governance, and leading under complexity.

Prior to joining IFC, Ms Schloemer held positions with the European Investment Bank and DEG/KfW Group in Germany. She has a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Göttingen, a Postgraduate degree in Development Policy from the German Development Institute, and the Corporate Director Certificate from Harvard Business School.
