After completing schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, New Delhi, Ms. Sarangi pursued Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) from Delhi College of Engineering passing out in 2001. From 2002 till 2003 she worked with the Indian software company, Infosys Technologies Ltd., Bangalore and from 2003 till 2008, with the German multinational software corporation, SAP. She joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 2008 and was allotted the State cadre of Odisha. Ms. Sarangi served in the capacities of Sub Collector; Project Director of District Rural Development Agency; Collector & District Magistrate - across various Districts in the State of Odisha. From Feb 2019 till June 2019 she worked as Joint Secretary in the Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Odisha. Since June 2019 till date, Ms. Sarangi have been officiating as the Managing Director of Odisha State Medical Corporation Ltd. (OSMCL) with additional Charge of Commissioner Food Safety, Odisha.
