Dr. Yan Bai leads the monitoring of the global indicators on the cost and affordability of healthy diets at the World Bank’s Development Data Group. His research applies economic and scientific methods to analyze food and nutrition security and sustainable development, with findings published in leading journals including Nature Food, Lancet Planetary Health, and Food Policy. He holds a Ph.D. in Food and Nutrition Policy from Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition and a master’s degree in international business and finance from Tufts University’s Fletcher School. Prior to graduate studies, he worked as an investment analyst in global financial institutions, focusing on health and agriculture sectors. He also holds dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and chemistry from Peking University (China).
