Dr. Yan Bai leads the global monitoring of the cost and affordability of healthy diets indicators at the Development Data Group of the World Bank. He obtained his Ph.D. in Food and Nutrition Policy from Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition and a master’s degree in international business and finance from Tufts University’s Fletcher School. His research combines economic and scientific methods to focus on data-driven analysis of food and nutrition security worldwide, with work published in esteemed journals such as Nature Food, Lancet Planetary Health, and Food Policy. Before pursuing his graduate education, he gained valuable industry experience as an investment analyst at global financial institutions, focusing on health and agriculture sectors. Dr. Bai holds dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and chemistry from Peking University.
