Yan Sun, a Chinese national, is an Extended Term Consultant at the Office of the Chief Economist Office for East Asia and Pacific region. Her research interests include poverty, inequality of opportunity, labor, and education. She has presented her research findings American Economic Association (AEA) annual meeting and North East Universities Development Consortium (NEUDC) conferences. She joined the Bank in 2013. Prior to this, she had been a researcher at International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) for ten years focusing on research of gender disparity, household behavior, and rural development. She holds a Master in economics from Georgetown University and a Ph.D. in economics from George Washington University.
