Yi Yang (Nina) is a transport specialist based in the World Bank Beijing Office. She has over ten years of professional experience in urban transport planning, traffic management and intelligent transport system (ITS). She has led the preparation and implementation of several transport projects in China, covering urban rail, public transport, traffic management, and freight and logistics. She has also been engaged in urban transport projects in South East Asia and Central Asia. Nina supports her clients in sustainable transport development through the improvement of mass transit system, the integration of multiple transport modes, the application of modern technologies, and the coordination of land use and transport development. She prepared an analytical work on China: Gender Impacts of ITS, which reviewed the gender dimensions of ITS and recommended solutions to maximize ITS benefits through the incorporation of gender considerations during ITS planning, design, implementation and operation stages. Nina holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Tsinghua University and is expected to finish an Executive Master of Urban Planning from University of Southern California in 2020.
