Yusra Uzair is a consultant with the GFDRR, where she supports research, strategic engagement, and policy to promote inclusive approaches to disaster-risk management across World Bank operations.
Before joining the Bank, Yusra gained diverse experience in government, nongovernmental organizations, and public institutions. She worked for the United Kingdom Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office, where she helped to strengthen collaboration with Canada in climate change, aging, innovation, and artificial intelligence, while supporting the diplomatic mandate. Yusra also managed health and education programming in Peru's Andean region to support sustainable development in indigenous communities.
In 2018, Yusra was selected to join the World Economic Forum’s community of Global Shapers and is currently serving as curator in Toronto. Yusra holds a Master of Science in International Migration and Public Policy from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management in Development Studies from Carleton University.
