Zaida Silva Gomes, a Cape Verdean national, joined the World Bank in January 2021 as Senior Procurement Specialist in the Luanda office, working on the Angola and Sao Tome and Principe portfolios. Zaida has 15 years of experience working throughout the entire procurement lifecycle, including in project appraisal, procurement, risk management, training, and public procurement reform. Prior to joining the World Bank, Zaida completed multiple technical assignments in support of the Millenium Challenge Corporation, Africa Development Bank, and European Union-funded projects in Cabo Verde, Angola, Indonesia, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Mali.

Zaida holds a Master’s in Public Procurement from the University of Cuyo, a post-graduate degree in Public Administration from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and a Bachelor’s  in International Economic Relations from the University of Lisbon. She has also been trained and received certifications in several critical areas of procurement management, including Harvard University-led contract law, IADB development project management, PMI project portfolio management. Zaida is fluent in English, French, Portuguese.
