Zarina Nurmukhambetova is the World Bank’s External Affairs Officer for Central Asia region. In this role, she oversees the planning and execution of effective communications and outreach strategies to raise awareness and understanding of the World Bank Group’s development work and strategic priorities in the region and around the world. Before the World Bank, Zarina led communications teams at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. She holds a BA from the School of Public Affairs at American University, Washington DC, and an MA in Public Policy with a focus on International Public Policy from Central European University, Budapest, Hungary.
