Zhuldyz Zhurumbetova

Senior Environmental Specialist

Zhuldyz Zhurumbetova is a Senior Environmental Specialist at the World Bank.

With extensive experience in environmental risk management and transboundary water cooperation in the Aral Sea basin, Zhuldyz has provided expertise on complex infrastructure projects for both government and private sectors. Her work spans various sectors, including transport, water, environment, health, urban development, finance, competitiveness, innovation, and the oil and gas industry. She ensures alignment with the World Bank’s environmental safeguards policies and the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), including IFC environmental and social performance standards, with a focus on Central Asian countries.

Zhuldyz joined the World Bank’s Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy (ENB) Global Department in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region as a consultant in 2020. Since then, she has been ensuring compliance with the Bank’s environmental safeguards policies and ESF standards in operational activities in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Zhuldyz holds a master’s degree in environmental resource management from University College Dublin.
