Ziad Nakat

Resident Representative for the World Bank in the State of Kuwait and the State of Qatar

Dr. Ziad Nakat is the World Bank Group’s Resident Representative to the State of Kuwait and the State of Qatar. Ziad has over 20 years of experience in the infrastructure and transport sectors, of which he has spent over 15 at the World Bank, working on 40 countries in Europe and Central Asia, Africa, Middle East, and South Asia. His areas of expertise include transport planning, urban transport, asset management, transport policy, infrastructure finance, energy subsidy reforms, and risk management.

Ziad has experience in setting up and managing private equity funds. He had also worked as a researcher in the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center in California on the reliability of offshore oil and gas pipelines, and in the Institute of Transportation Studies in California on road asset management and investment policies.

Ziad has a Ph.D in Civil and Environmental Engineering, MA in economics, MS in Engineering, and Management of Technology (MOT) - all from the University of California Berkeley; as well as a Bachelor of Engineering from the American University of Beirut.
