Zishan Karim is a Senior Social Development Specialist in the Social, Urban, Rural, and Resilience Global Practice based in Nairobi, Kenya. She manages the South Sudan Local Governance and Service Delivery Project as well as the Somalia Urban Investment operations. She is also leading analytical work on infrastructure/service delivery and displacement in both countries. Prior to this she was co-managing the National Solidarity Program in Afghanistan based in Kabul. In her eight years with the World Bank, she has worked extensively on social and urban issues in fragile contexts focusing on community-driven development approaches, local government institutional strengthening, and social accountability.
