Most commodity indexes rebounded in the second quarter of 2016 from multi-year lows in January. Despite the different trajectories of energy and metals prices since 2011, the ultimately similar decline of both groups is indicative of the impact of slowing economic growth. Ordinarily, cheaper energy and metals should have had generated an input for growth as a result of supposed increased in consumption from savings made from cheaper energy. But this has not been the case, both groups were declining in tandem, and this scenario may not be unconnected with the trend in the emerging economies. With this new outlook, we will adopt a 'wait and see'.
