Ruxandra Burdescu is a Senior Public Sector Specialist with the World Bank's Governance Global Practice, currently working in the Africa region. She has worked for two decades in the area of governance and anti-corruption, SOE reforms, and building resilience to climate change. As World Bank Country Representative in Uruguay, she managed the quality, risks, and results of $1B portfolio. Prior to joining the World Bank, Burdescu worked in the legal field in Romania, and was an Assistant Professor at the School of Business and Economics and Law School at the University of Craiova in Romania. She holds a JD and PhD in Law from Romania, and a Masters degree in International Studies and PhD (ABD) from the American University in the United States. She has published five books and articles on various topics, including the governance of water utilities and fiscal management for climate resilience.
